My days in China were passing quickly, soon it was the day to leave. I farewelled the feng shui masters in JianXi and headed south to Australia. On the way back, I stopped at Macau to visit one of my dear friends who I haven’t seen for years. Our gathering was very cheerful. My friend showed me around the city. I observed the city with my feng shui eyes. Here is a feng shui story about Grand Lisboa.

Macau is next to Hong Hong with main land China in the north and south sea in the east and south. The city is famous for casinos and tourists. There are more than thirty casinos in the city now. Casino Lisboa was one of the oldest and busiest (It was built in the 1960s by Stanley Ho). However, in the past decade, with Macau returned to China, and millions of visitors from China every year, the world considered the gambling business to be profitable in Macau. Therefore many new casinos have arisen in Macau like bamboos shoots after rain. Every new casino is more glamorous and grand than the older ones. Although the Casino Lisboa had used feng shui in designs and settings, it was still losing the gambling market. In order to compete with the other casinos, the owners of Lisboa built a new gambling tower called Grand Lisboa in 2008.

(The casino Bisboa has entries of tiger and bat. The picture on the left is one of the entries, it is designed as a bat mouth with two red teeth.)

Grand Lisboa is next to the old Liaboa, it is in the heart of Macau. Even the city is very tight with land, the Grand Lisboa has very big bright hall (明堂 Ming Tang) and offers 400 rooms and massive gambling areas. The entry level has displays of antiques, jade, diamonds and art collections worth billions of dollars.

The Grand Lisboa is a giant builing which sits on a big round ball. The delusions shine thoughout the building from sunset to down. The idea of the outlook of the building is from the lotus. However the petals were designed like old Chinese executioner’s knifes. All these designs are to enhance the power and to attract customers and win over them.

I was impressed by the power and luxury of Grand Lisboa. After I left the casino, I went up to the hill to visit the historic museum. On top of the hill, I saw there were a few ancient cannons from bygone wars. These canons are pointing at the back of the Grand Lisboa. I wonder if the highly feng shuied casino has ever noticed these cannons? They may need to watch their back constantly.

Yang Gong Feng Shui is one of the main feng shui branches in China. It is the land form feng shui. In the Tang dynasty, 864-888扬公(YangGong) and his disciples invented the Feng Shui Lou Pang, which divided twenty four mountains into seventy-two dragons. Therefore, in feng shui practise the landform and 72 dragons formula enables us to observe the landform and define the water mouth and find the dragon dam precisely.

Gan Zhou city is the birth place of扬公(YangGong). As a feng shui practitioner it is a great honour to visit the city and to see the classic temples and buildings which were designed by the feng shui deity -Yang Gong.

Here are some pictures:

The unique city landform. It looks like a natural yin yang symbol.

Mina with master and colleague.

The city underground sewage was designed by yang gong feng shui masters. It has served the city more than a thousand years. The city has never been flooded. The drainage continue to serve the city, and is a miracle of the world.

My Chinese feng shui odyssey this year will begin tomorrow. This time, I am going to spend most of my times in JiangXi province. Jiang Xi province is inland, with many mountains. It is an origin of Yang Gon Feng Shui杨公风水.

I will be meeting with Chinese Grand feng shui master 曾祥裕 (chen xiang yu) to descover the deep secrets of the 72 dragons.

I shall keep you posted about my feng shui odyssey in China.

After Chinese New Year, it is a good season for people to look for new jobs. Many companies, corporates advertise new jobs. This years recruitments have some surprises. Many companies not only look at work experience, qualifications, sex, age, apprerance, but also consider Chinese birthday sign, Bazi, and blood types. Some people met all the criterea for a highly paid job, but the Bazi clashed with the boss, and were hence rejected. They were told: sorry, you were born at the wrong time.

From this article I can see that feng shui and Bazi have become more important for business practice in China. Nonetheless, if you were born at the wrong time for one person you were surely born at the right time for someone else.

Chinese has a saying: 天生我才必有用(God/Heaven gives me life, it must be good for something).

Not many people have opportunities to build their own houses, and fewer people have the chance or knowledge to build their house according to feng shui principals.

I didn’t build my house. The house I’m living in has a few feng shui problems. One of the problems was the bathroom. the shower, bath and the drains were in the wrong positions. I had been dealing with the negativity over years. At last, I had a chance to renovate the bathroom this year.

I selected an auspicious date and time for the job to begin. The area to be renovated is about 35m2. From demolishing, rebuild to completion, it took 12 days. The renovation was smooth, the drains were corrected, the bath, shower, toilets were in the correct positions according to feng shui. The budget did not explode, the finish is stunning.

The bathroom is one of the most important parts of our living. In feng shui the bathroom relates to water flow. The water flows in and flows out from certain directions, their location can affect the well being of the residents. I tried the ancient Chinese water formula. On the date of completion, the phone rang, someone asked me to look into a project which involves a few hundred houses.

Dear blog readers,

Thank you for visiting my blog again.

I received an email recently from one of my clients and friends Andy and learned that he had trained very hard to run the 14.38km to raise fund for Royal Children Hospital.

To run 14.38km is not an easy task for most of us. It makes me tired by just thinking of it. I was deeply touched by his effort. He runs a company and is the father of three children, a very hard worker and inspiring person.

His aim for this run is to raise $7000 for the Royal Children Hospital. We can make our donation and become part of the supportive team for Children Hospital. For more details visit

There are some indications of bad relationships from the female face readings. If you see these indications on yourself, and if you choose to have a family, you will need to work on yourself, and make some changes in terms of attitude towards to loved ones.

I have not written any new posts for my blog lately. The reason is I was too busy with feng shui consultations. Every ending and beginning of a year is the busiest time of my work. Most clients require annual feng shui update at the beginning of the year. Today is my first day off for a long time.

The IFSA -feng shui seminar on Jan 28th went well. My Melbourne trip in early Feb was good. It was great to see Melbourne clients again. Some of them followed me since 2003.

As predicted, the dragon year will not be the end of the world, however, there will still have a lot of national disasters and man made disasters. My master in China (Grand master Shao Wei Hua) has designed two charms (see the pictures on the left).

Charms/Spells are an important part of Chinese traditional culture and part of Daoist practise. They are used to ward off evil energy, or to heal some mysterious sickness. Grand master Shao has more than 50 years experience in Daoist practice, he has healed many people. In this particular year, he designed and signed the charms for everyone.

The left one is the Grand Duke of 2012– General Peng Tai and the safety spell. (壬辰年太岁彭泰大将军护身符，随身佩带，保出入平安。) The second one is the spell which helps you to avoid big disasters. You can print them out and keep them with you for safety.

We are in Adelaide again this year, and this time we went to see a 20-20 cricket match between Adelaide and Hobart.

As a feng shui professional, I often do an I Ching prediction for the match I am attending, to keep up my prediction skills. However, we were in a rush, so I didn’t have time to sit down and do my study for the match. The other symple way to predict the match result is by checking the elements of the date, and looking at the colour of the uniform of each team; this exercise requires a Chinese Ten Thousand year calendar, and it takea only a minute of my time. Generaly speaking, the Chinese calendar records the time by using ten heavenly stem and twelve earthly branches, each stem or branch represents an element; the colour of the uniform also relates to an element, for example, the green uniform is the wood element. If the element of the date is metal, based on the relationships between the five basic elements, metal destroys wood, therefore the team with the green uniform is not supported by the date, the team will have a disadvantage in the match if the other team has a blue uniform. Blue relates to the water element, metal supports water, therefore on the metal day, the team with blue uniform has more luck to win.

Yesterday, I did not have my Chinese calendar handy, and I had lost count of the day element, so I couldn’t do the prediction. However, when I got my ticket at the gate, I learned the name of Adelaide team was Strikers, and the name of Hobart team was Hurricanes. I said the Hurricanes will blow away the Strikers.

There were more than 27,000 people at the ground, we all supported the Adelaide team. However, the result of the match was: the Strikers were blown away by the Hurricanes.
